The Trophy Bassmasters left the big productive
waters up north at Lake Erie for a 2 tournament run
through the center of Ohio starting with Delaware
reservoir near Delaware Ohio this past weekend. The club
will compete on Alum Creek near Columbus next month. The
inland lakes like Delaware and Alum provide a much more
difficult task for the club members when it comes to
finding not only numbers of fish but also keeper size
bass measuring at least 12”. When the 14 anglers
finished their 8 hour competition day on Delaware all
but 1 had at least 1 fish but only 2 anglers had a 5
fish limit. The club brought in 43 largemouth bass that
weighed a total of just 45.69lbs. Boyd Downey once again
was at the top of the heap as he had 6.92lbs in 5 fish.
Guy Gerber used the day’s big bass at 1.88lbs and a
5.22lb total in 4 fish to narrowly capture 2nd
place. Netting 5 bass in 3rd place was Don
Kraft finishing only .01lb short of Gerber at 5.21lbs.
With Delaware serving as the club’s 10th outing of the
season, the members start throwing out their lowest
scores to compile only their best 9 tournament totals.
This really starts tightening up the point list as those
anglers that have missed an event or 2 get to catch up.
Downey has made a substantial move in the point
standings with wins in the past 2 events moving from 9th
to 2nd.
