The Trophy Bassmasters had another very successful trip to Lake Erie over the weekend with Sandusky Bay serving as tournament headquarters. Eighteen anglers made the trip with 15 of them bringing in at least 3 keeper fish of at least 14”. The club posted 10 five fish limits with 68 total fish and 134.17lbs.Don Ratcliff has started to separate himself from the rest of the club in the Angler of the Year point race as he posted his 1^st win of the season. Ratcliff’s 5 fish mixed bag of both largemouth and smallmouth bass weighed in at 12.90lbs. Also moving up in the standings was Virgil Grant. Grant placed 2^nd with a 5 fish limit and 10.91lbs. This is Grant’s 3^rd top 2 finish in the last 4 tournaments. Jim Miller used a late day flurry to capture both the 3^rd place prize and big bass of the day. Miller netted 10.62bs for 5 fish which included a 3.69lb largemouth. Miller reported having very little success until 2 hours before the tournament day ended. This is the 9^th club tournament of the season. With 4 more tournaments to go in 2011 the Angler of the Year point race is getting interesting.
