The Trophy Bassmasters left the bounty of Lake Erie for their most recent battle with the black bass and instead traveled to Delaware Reservoir in central Ohio for the latest competition. Results were predictably down as 6 anglers blanked and only 7 anglers had more than 1 keeper largemouth. The 19 participants weighed in 29 bass for a meager 31.81lbs after the 8 ½ hour day. Leading the charge was Mike Atchison with the only 5 fish limit of the day and 5.29lbs. Atchison reportedly caught all his fish in the first hours of the tournament on an extra small crankbait. Solidifying his hold on the top spot in the Angler of the Year race was Don Ratcliff as he secured both the 2nd place position and the big bass of the day. Ratcliff’s 3 bass weighed 4.53lbs with his big fish going 2.34lbs. Boyd Downey caught 4 bass that tipped the scales at 4.49lbs to earn the 3rd place spot. With only 2 tournaments left the Angler of the Year race has tightened up with several members still with a shot at the title.
