The Trophy Bassmasters competed in their 4th
outing of the season as they traveled to Delaware
Reservoir north of Columbus. A large field of 21 regular
members and 2 guests competed from 7 am to 3pm with
meager results. Only 38 keeper bass of at least 12” were
brought to the scales with a total weight of 51.54lbs.
Don Ratcliff continued his early season success with his
1st win and
3rd top 3
finish. Ratcliff caught a 5 bass limit of largemouth
tipping the scales at 8.67lbs to secure the victory.
Kelly Dearwester followed his victory at St Marys 2
weeks ago with another strong finish placing 2nd.
Dearwester had a 5 bass limit which weighed in at
6.19lbs for the runner-up position. Boyd Downey rounded
out the top 3 with 3 bass at 4.03lbs. David Gallegos
landed the big bass of the day with a 2.44lb fish.
Lawson Hartman is competing this year again as a guest
of the club with his member grandfather Jim. Lawson
nailed 3 bass and would have finished 3rd
with 5.87lbs. Lawson also caught what would have been
the big bass of the day at 3.51lbs. The club is
anticipating a top competitor once Lawson reaches
membership eligibility age of 16. He is currently only
9.
