A
little dose of the tough reality of Ohio summer time
bass fishing is what the Trophy Bassmasters received
this weekend. The destination was Delaware Reservoir
north of Columbus. Due to the recent heat wave, surface
water temperature reached the mid-80s. It was tough on
the fishermen and apparently had the bass lethargic as
well. The 13 anglers could manage just 20 keeper bass of
at least 12”for a total weight of only 23.23lbs. Half of
those were brought in by the top 2 finishers. Virgil
Grant had a 5 fish limit that weighed in at 5.50lbs to
capture the win. Grant shaved a few points off the
Angler of the Year point lead held by Don Ratcliff and
moved into sole possession of 2nd place for
the year. AOY leader, Don Ratcliff had the other 5 bass
limit for 4.91lb and the 2nd position for the
day. Bert Grubbs landed 2 largemouth bass and 2.39lbs to
earn the 3rd place spot. Mark Dairy had a
single 1.78lb bass that served as the big bass for the
day.
