The
Trophy Bassmasters competed in their 14th of 20 club
tournaments for 2023 as they traveled to Belleville Lake
in Belleville Michigan. A small inland lake that has a
good population of bass even though finding keepers of
at least 14” can be a challenge. The 14 anglers that
participated brought in 38 bass totaling 62.96lbs. Bert
Grubbs topped the field with 5 largemouth bass. Grubbs
total weight was 9.76lbs for the win. Grubbs also landed
the big bass for the day at 2.85lbs. Don Ratcliff had a
mixed bag of 2 smallmouth and 3 largemouth. Ratcliff’s
creel weighed 8.50lbs to earn him the 2nd
place position. Virgil Grant had all largemouth in his 5
bass limit. Grant finished 3rd with 7.95lb.
Ratcliff continues to lead the Angler of the Year point
race and with only 6 tournaments left is becoming harder
to catch after each event.
