Big water. Big heat. Big boats. Big fish. When the club starts fishing Lake Erie and all the accompanying waterways everything gets bigger. This past weekend the club used the Elizabeth Park boat ramp on the southern end of the Detroit River as the starting point for the 8th club tournament of the season. All of Lake Erie, the Detroit River and Lake St Clair were available to compete on. Fifteen members of the Trophy club made the trip with excellent results for most. Eleven anglers brought in 48 bass of at least 14” with a total weight of 116.65lbs. All but 1 was released alive. 1st and 2nd place came out of the same boat as Guy Gerber and Andy Cripple got on a group of largemouth bass and sorted through multiple fish to bring in the top 2 awards including big bass. Guy Gerber caught an impressive 16.95 lb bag of 5 largemouths to take 1st place. He also had the 4.03lb big bass of the day. His boat partner, Andy Cripple also had 5 nice largemouth and 13.13lbs for the 2nd place award. By contrast John Clark brought in a 5 fish limit of smallmouth bass weighing 12.42lbs for the 3rd place position. This is the 2nd of 4 straight weekends that the club will be competing.
