The Trophy Bassmasters traveled to one of their
favorite destinations this past weekend with visions of
multiple big bass in their creels. What they found was
quite different as is often the case in the world of
competitive bass fishing. Results rarely meet
expectations despite all the conditions seemingly
aligned. Cool mornings with partly cloudy and mild
afternoon temps greeted the 19 anglers for their 9 hour
competition day. What is normally a slugfest with
numerous anglers having 5 fish limits was not to be as
this year’s version of Knox Lake surrenders only 2 such
limits and only 36 total bass over 12”. Those 36 totaled
62.16lbs for only about half the normal total creel.
Andy Cripple took the top honors for the 3rd
year in a row with 8.56lbs in 5 fish. A close 2nd
was John Clark for the 2nd year in a row as
his 5 bass weighed in at 8.44lbs. Steve Barker collected
the 3rd place and big bass awards with 3 fish
at 7.67lbs and the 4.18lb big bass.
