 2022 PRESS RELEASE

The Trophy Bassmasters of Kenton hosted their 43rd annual Indian Lake Spring Open Bass tournament this past weekend. Mother Nature was the biggest story of the day. Starting temps in the low 30s with wind, sleet, and snow discouraged all but the heartiest of anglers. Only 34 boats with 2 competitors in each, took to the lake at 7AM. Compare this to several years of 100+ boats with a top total of 142 entries in 2008.

At the end of their 8 hour day, 18 of those boats brought in 58 largemouth bass for a total weight of 95.89lbs. The top team of Jeremy & Travis Tenwalde of Fort Jennings Ohio, brought in the heaviest  catch of 5 bass weighing 11.47lbs earning them the 1st place prize of $2000.00 plus a 1st place plaque each commemorating the accomplishment.

Also at the event, Kyle Feucht caught the biggest bass of the event. He reeled in a 4.22lb bass and earned $175.00 plus the Big Bass plaque. Feucht’s big fish also helped his team to an 8th place finish and an additional $100.00 prize for the day.

This is not the 1st trip to the winner’s circle for the Tenwaldes at the annual Trophy Bassmaster’s Open tournament. They also won in 2010, 2011, and 2019. Combine that with a 2nd in 2017, 10th in 2014, and 6th in 2021 allows them to be the most successful team in the history of the long running event beating out Kent & Cheryl Smart who placed 1st twice, 3rd twice, and 8th once in a 10 year period between 2004 and 2013.
