This Tournament Paid full prize money with only 79 boats.
The Trophy Bassmasters held their 24th annual
Open Bass tournament on Indian Lake this spring and a local pair took the
top prize. Trophy’s Open, which regularly draws 2 man teams from all over
the state as well as Kentucky and Indiana, has gained a reputation for
being a well run and well attended buddy bass tournament. Seventy-nine
teams competed from 7:00AM to 4:00PM on a cold, windy, and rainy Sunday
vying for the top prize of $1200.00. Catches were low as only 76 fish were
weighed in that totaled 100.42lbs. Both totals are down from last year’s
150lbs and 100 fish. The big winners for the day were Kenton duo Steve
Hayter and Jerry Hipsher. They brought in 10 keeper largemouth bass that
tipped the scales at 10.67lbs. For their efforts they were awarded a check
for $1200.00 and first place plaques. The Big Bass for the day also went
to a pair from relatively close as John Downey and Lee Runkle from the
Indian Lake area had a 4.12lb beauty. They collected $370.00 and a Big
Bass plaque to commemorate the effort.
This Tournament Would not be the great event it
is without the local support from our sponsors. Please patronize
them whenever possible.
