The Trophy
Bassmasters of Kenton finally made the trip to their home waters of Indian
Lake with very favorable results. This tournament was rescheduled from April
15th when the poor weather forced a postponement. The wait was
well worth it though as 24 club members made the short trip to Blackhawk
ramp for the 9 hour day. At the 3PM weigh-in 23 of the 24 members had 12”
keeper largemouth bass to bring to the scales. The 49 bass weighed a total
of 77.71lbs and all but 1 were released alive. Taking the first place
position with a 5 bass limit that weighed 8.98lbs was Boyd Downey. Downey
reportedly caught most of his fish on a small homemade spinnerbait. Heath
McGrew also had a 5 fish limit. His creel tallied 7.36lbs for second place.
Rounding out the top 3 was Dave Wedertz. His 4 keeper bass tipped the scales
at 7.20lbs. Steve Barker caught the big bass for the day as he landed a
3.84lb beauty that fell to a topwater frog. |
