REPORT:
The Trophy Bassmasters finally got the 2003 fishing season
underway with their first 2 club tournaments of the year. The first event
was quite forgettable as a handful of brave anglers braved wind, rain, and
temperatures in the 30s to compete on Buckeye Lake. The outcome was almost
predictable as not 1 single keeper of 12" or more was netted. This left
hopes for better things as the club moved on to Indian Lake. Warmer temps
and clearer skies greeted the anxious anglers as they were eager to get
their strings stretched after the long, cold winter. Ten members started at
6:45AM at Blackhawk Ramp for an 8hr fishing day. Even though catches
were light, it was a welcome relief to get on the water under favorable
conditions and bring a few fish to the scales. Paul Pemberton took top
honors as he tallied 3 largemouth and 4.56lbs for the first place award. His
creel also included the days’ big bass. Second place went to Boyd Downey. He
nailed 2 bass that weighed 3.04lbs for the positions. Rounding out the top 3
was Todd Prall. His 1 keeper weighed in at 1.45lbs. The competitors brought
in 8 keepers weighing 11.58lbs for the day. All were released alive. The
club is looking to increase membership. Anyone interested in bass fishing
should contact any member of the Trophy Bassmasters or email their questions
to trophybass@dbscorp.net. |
