REPORT:
The Trophy
Bassmasters played their own version of musical chairs last weekend only
this time it was the lake that was changing. The tournament scheduled to
go to Lake Erie was moved Delaware Reservoir. This was done because the
tournament originally scheduled to go to Delaware earlier in the season
was moved to Lake Erie because of flooding on Delaware. The swap seemed
the logical thing to do. However when the club showed up at the ramp on
Delaware last weekend to compete they found a large Open style
tournament going out of the same ramp with close to 100 boats entered.
Since Delaware fishes rather small anyway the decision was made to
caravan south to Alum Creek and hold the competition there. The club
finally got started around 7:30AM and the 10 anglers got the tournament
under way. The lake proved stingy as only 13 keepers were brought in
with 7 of those belonging to the top 2 places. The 13 weighed 22.80lbs
and all were released alive. First place went to Boyd Downey. He brought
in 3 nice fish that totaled 7.47lbs including the day’s Big Bass at
3.54lbs. Second place went Paul Pemberton. His 4 keepers weighed in at
5.47lbs. Mike Baumlein took the 3rd place honor with one
2.70lb bass. |
